| Program Description/Service Offered: |
WIA is a federally funded program designed to increase occupational skill levels of participants and prepare them for productive employment, thus improving the quality of the workforce. Services are tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual and employer and may include assessment of skill levels and training needs, pre-employment skills training and job search assistance, career assessment and counseling, educational or vocational training, on-the-job training, and supportive services. WIA is an eligibility based program, not an entitlement program. Program appropriateness is based on whether or not the case manager feels that WIA can provide the necessary services to address an individual's barriers, and whether or not the candidate appears to be motivated and dedicated to fully participating in the WIA program. |
