This program provides screening for cancere, heart disease, pulmonary disease and diabetes. The program was set up to be a cost effective alternative so that all residents of the county could afford health screening. The screening includes height, weight, body mass index, body fat analysis, blood pressure, lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, total cholesterol/HDL ratio, triglycerides) hemoglobin A1C, PSA for males over 40, stool hemocult, pulmonary function studies and referral to the Colorado Women's Cancer Control Initiative for women between the ages of 4O and 64 whol qualify financially. In addition to the screening, the program offers education in health risks and their control and an opportunity to enroll in programs to reduce those risks either through smarter nutrition or through exercise, as the program offers both options. |
