The MHP community integration project has chosen the name One Community, using the tag line 'Learning to grow together'. The first of three community forums was held in Olathe May 12th. Participants prioritized issues affecting immigrant integration in Montrose and Delta counties in general and Olathe in particular. They include having a welcoming center to support orientation of newcomers, identifying leaders in the immigrant communities and creating bridges to the leadership of the established community, and increasing opportunities for community cultural activities and social exchange amongst all groups. The next forum is in Montrose, June 2nd. Please plan to attend to be part of the conversation to determine what will best support community integration in the Montrose area and pass this information on to your friends and colleagues.
